Cox, Abe – 1963
The Rev. J.E. King and the Rev. C.A. Reasor officiated at the funeral services for Abe Cox, 86, Sunday at 3 pm in Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
Cox, well known retired pioneer Cooke County farmer and stockman, died at his home in the Mt. Zion community Friday morning. He had been ill for some time.
Interment was in Mt. Zion Cemetery. Pallbearers were Howard Powers, Scott Johnson, Billy Cox, Wayne Kyle, Ronny Adkins and Wade Cox.
Abe Cox was married Dec. 13, 1894 to Miss Agnes Wheeler, who passed away July 22, 1963.
Survivors include five sons, W.R. Cox of Gladewater, Marvin A. Cox, Ralph and Ivan Cox, all of Collinsville and Clifford Cox of Omaha, Nebr.; five daughters, Mrs. G.C. Powers of Sanger, Mrs. H.F. Kyle and Mrs. D.W. Adkins, both of Gainesville, Mrs. Bert Johnson of Tioga and Mrs. Ben Reasor of Collinsville; one brother, Alex Cox of Collinsville; four sisters, Mrs. May Reed and Mrs. Jennie Jetton of Fort Worth, Mrs. Nola Ewing of Wichita Falls and Mrs. Beulah Walker of Collinsville; 30 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
