Fred Kring is a sixth Generation Kring born in the United States. Fred was born on Sept 28, 1905 to Jeremiah Irvin and Catherine P. (Strang) Kring of Nappanee, Kosciusko Co. Ind.. Res; South Bend, Saint Joseph Co. Ind. Freds Occ; Truck driver for Armour Star Meat Packing Corp.. On Sept. 1, 1923, Fred married Helen M. Miller of LaPaz, Ind., Occ; housewife, daughter of Solomon and Cara (Rowe) Miller born Sept. 9, 1905, of LaPaz, Ind.
Fred is survived by his wife Helen, A brother, Uriah, Walkerton, Ind., three sisters, Jennie, Bremen, IND. Goldie, Culver, Ind. and Edna of LaPaz, Ind.. Eight children, Lois, Frederick Jr., Wayne, Robert, Maydeen, James, Charles, and Michael, born 20 days after Fred's death. Preceding Fred in death was a sister, Evelyn, born Nov.11, 1907, died Aug.31,1909.
On Dec.10, 1945, Fred had returned to the company parking lot after a hard day of delivering meat to businesses around the South Bend area. As he climbed down from his truck, witnesses said they saw Fred grab his chest and fall to the ground. When help got to Fred,it was too late, he had died of a massive heart attack.
Burial took place at Highland Cem., South Bend, Ind.
