Carl Conrad, 62, of 1957 155th Street, West Point, died at 1:30 a.m., Sunday, Oct. 9, at Fort Madison Community Hospital.
He was born on Feb. 15, 1943, near West Point, the son of Bernard and Leona (Sanders) Conrad. He married Connie Menke on June 19, 1965.
He was a farmer and a businessman. He was a member of St. James Catholic Church and past member of Parish Council, Finance Committee, God's Acre Sale Committee and the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife Connie and two sons, Scott (wife Tammy) Conrad, and Nick (wife Maribeth) Conrad, all of West Point; eight brothers, Raymond (wife Justine) Conrad of Tempe, Ariz., Victor Conrad of Pilot Grove, Ernest (wife Nancy) Conrad of New London, Linus (wife Sue) Conrad of Versailles, Mo., Paul (wife Kaye) Conrad of Pilot Grove, David (wife Mary) Conrad of Kansas City, Mo., and Tony (wife Roberta) Conrad of Placentia, Calif.; three sisters, Colette (husband Carl) Menke of Fort Madison, Bernadine (husband Mark) Kruse of Aurora, Colo., and Karen Derksen of Sacramento, Calif.; two grandsons, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and one sister.
His body has been cremated. A rosary will be recited at 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 13, at St. James Catholic Church, St. Paul. His family will greet friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the church, with a christian vigil at 7 p.m. Mass of christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Friday, Oct. 14, at the church, with Rev. Gary Beckman, Rev. Apo Mpanda, and Rev. Maynard Brotherson as celebrants. There will be a private family burial at St. James Cemetery.
