Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday in Barto Funeral Home, DePue with a 10 a.m. Mass in St. Mary's Catholic Church, DePue. The Revs. Mubarak Anwar Amar and Thomas Badovsky will concelebrate. Burial will be at Valley Memorial Park, Spring Valley.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with a rosary service at 7 p.m.
Mr. Mickel was born March 24, 1915, in DePue to Stanley and Mary (Kozlowski) Mickel. He married Sophia Hybki on Oct. 21, 1939, in St. Mary's Catholic Church, DePue.
He worked for New Jersey Zinc Co. in DePue for many years and then retired from Bassick Corp. in Spring Valley. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, DePue and DePue Booster Club.
Survivors include his wife, Sophia Mickel of DePue; one son, James (Sandy) Mickel of Peru; one daughter, Georgian (Keith) Dean of Infield, Conn.; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two brothers, Stanley (Darrell) Mickel of DePue and Clarence (Vonda) Meadowcraft of Rockford and two sisters, Grace Oklesen of La Salle and Delores Randall of Rockford.
He was preceded in death by two daughters, Jeanette in 1958 and Karen in 1994, and two brothers.
