Missouri death record indicates that Jacob (he went by his middle name, as did his children) was first buried in Bethlehem Cemetery, then removed to Bellefontaine on Nov 26 of 1884 (year is hard to read. Cemetery plot map indicates it was 1885).

Jacob's wife, Anne Marie Henke, died in Germany in 1848. Jacob and his eleven children emigrated to the US the following year. (Several of the older children had visited earlier, perhaps to scope things out.) They came first to Muscatine (then known as Bloomington), Iowa, where the oldest daughter Barbara remained, as well as a son who died young. The rest of the family moved to St. Louis.

Jacob was a tanner. He is my 3rd-great grandfather.
