Mrs. Lillian Basnight Johnson, 76, of Manteo died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1976, in the Albemarle Hospital after a long illness. She was a native of Manteo and lived there all her life.
She was a member of the Manteo Baptist Church, the Garden Club, the Home Demonstration Club and the Order of the Eastern Star #79.
She was the daughter of the late Benjamin B. and [Alice] Maude Twyne Basnight and wife of Charles Wesley Johnson of the home.
Besides her husband she is survived by two sons: Harry D. Johnson of Newport News, Va. and Virginia and Arthur Ray Johnson of Manteo; two sisters, Mrs. Lennie B. Tillett of Wanchese and Mrs. Leona B. Midgett of Manns Harbor; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Manteo Baptist Church by the Rev. James Davenport, pastor. Burial followed in the Cudworth Cemetery in Wanchese.
