Daughter of Valentine and Elizabeth (Weigand) Flugle. Valentine was one of the original Pheiff Creek One Hundred (Pipe Creek)early settlers here. After wife died, he took in housekeeper, Mary Flydon who was 18 while he was 79. He got mad and disowned his children and married Mary. After he died Mary sold all, married and left the area.There are court records on Frederick County,MD showing all and some background. States that his daughter Catherine and two of her daughters took after Mary the housekeeper with a broom trying to run her off. Catherine had a servant inside to help with her home keeping which would have still be a large task in those times. Her grave marker is written in German in 1809 while her husband John's is in English. They are buried at St. Benjamins/Kreiders Cemetery exactly next to where the first Union Church was on this property.
