He married Sarah Detrow and they had one child William BishopSon of Lovit Bishop & Rebecca Bell (Bull?). Married to Sarah Ann Dutro.
At the age of 7, his father moved their family to Bristol TWP, Morgan Co., OH. Lovit, his father, learned the trade of blacksmith and set up the first shop in the County. Mordecai also received training as a blacksmith but put he talents in Methodist faith, becoming one of the early circut Ministers in Ohio. After his father's death, Mordecai moved his family west, to Athens MO. He gave many services from his home, before a the Church was built.
Mordecai & Sarah were the parents of 9 children: Daniel, Lucy Kerns, Amy Hanson, Mordecai Jr., Edward T., Samuel N., Sarah Caroline Kellogg, William H.H. and Mary Elizabeth Latta.
