Edward Barton Baumgardner, only son of Barton and Alice Baumgardner, was born in Darke County, Ohio, on April 14, 1870. He departed this life on August 2, 1940, being 70 years, 3 months and 20 days. He was united in marriage to Sarah Elizabeth Godown on March 27, 1897, and to this union 12 children were born, 6 sons and 6 daughters. He spent his entire life in Darke County. In February 1925, Brother Baumgardner was converted in a revival meeting held at the Beech Church and took an active part in church work until kindred [sic] by sickness. He had been in failing health for about three years. He was a patient suffer [sic] and never complained about his lot in life, waiting only for the the Master's call. He was preceded in death by his wife some nine years ago, one daughter, Goldie, also preceded him eight years ago, and Opal in infancy. Three grandchildren and his sister preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his 10 children, Mrs. Fred Vogler, Pleasant Hill, Ohio, Roy A., Jaysville, Ohio, Henry B., Greenville, Ohio, Mrs. Otho Jay, Arcanum, Ohio, Walter, Mount Orab, Ohio, Melvin L., Greenville, Ohio, Mrs. George (Lucy) Dunevant, Bradford, Ohio, John E., Greenville, Ohio, Charles L., Greenville, Ohio, and Mrs. Roy (Dorothy) Keller, Greenville, Ohio, 21 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren, one step-mother, Mrs. Margie Baumgardner, Greenville, Ohio, one half-brother, Curtis Baumgardner, Greenville, Ohio, one half-sister, Mrs. Curtis Kearns, Greenville, Ohio, besides other relatives and friends. in the home going of Brother Baumgardner the children lost a devoted father and the community a good neighbor. Funeral services were held from the Miller Funeral Home in Gettysburg, Sunday afternoon on August 9th, conducted by the Rev. Colliflower. Interment in the Newcomers Cemetery.
