Melvin Leondus Baumgardner, aged 65y 07m 12d, 401 Plum Street, Greenville, Ohio, died at Wayne Hospital this morning (20 Feb 1974) at 6:30. He had been a patient at the hospital for two weeks.
Born 08 Jul 1908 and a native of Miami County, Mr. Baumgardner lived in Darke County his entire life. His parents were the late Edward and Sarah Godown Baumgardner.
He was a retired employee of the Champion Company in Piqua, Ohio, where he worked for 21 years.
Surviving are his wife, Geraldine E. Gunckel Baumgardner; four daughters, Mrs. Ervin (Virginia) Baker of Route 4, Greenville, and Mrs. Lucille Wampler, Mrs. Robert (Mary) Klosterman, and Mrs. Kay Smith, all of Greenville; two sons, John Edward (Joyce) Baumgardner of Greenville, and Ronald (Margaret) Baumgardner of Route 4, Greenville; 24 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Jay of Greenville, and Mrs. Roy (Dorothy) Keller of Covington; and three brothers, Walter Baumgardner of Goshen, John Baumgardner of Piqua, and Charley Baumgardner of Bradford.
Funeral services will be held at the Oliver Funeral Home in Greenville, Friday at 2 p.m., with Reverend Thomas Bowman officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens (now Greenville Township Memorial Garden).
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 2 to 9 p.m., and on Friday until the hour of services.
