She was born 23 Apr 1909, in Osgood, Ohio, the daughter of the late John Allen and Mary Scelanda Shappy Gunckel. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Melvin Leondus Baumgardner (08 Jul 1908-20 Feb 1974); her second husband, Clinton "Buck" Barga (26 May 1919-22 May 1995); a son, John Edward Baumgardner (20 Apr 1939-30 Dec 2001); three grandsons; three great-grandsons; and 16 brothers and sisters.
She was a former employee of Inland Steel Containers of Greenville, having worked there for 10 years, as well as being a homemaker. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, crocheting and embroidering.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Margaret Baumgardner of Greenville; daughters and sons-in-law, Virginia and Ervin Baker of Ansonia, Lucille "Boots" Breaden of Greenville, Mary and Joe Whittington of Ansonia, and Kay and Jessie Camacho of Versailles; 24 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Georgina McMahon of Yermo, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Zechar Bailey Funeral Home, Greenville, with the Reverend Lowell Miller officiating. Burial will be in Greenville Township Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Darke County. Condolences for the family may be sent to "[email protected]."
