Mrs. Tuttle was born in Darke County on 22 Sep 1899, daughter of the late John Allen and Mary Scelanda Shappy Gunckel. She had resided in the county all her life except for the few years she spent in Tennessee.
She was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Greenville.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Mary Powell ((1919-1997) of Greenville; one son, Earle Schlagel of South River, New Jersey; five sisters, Mrs. Paul (Delsia) Smith (1903-1992) of Dayton, Mrs. Vesta Cunningham (1906-1981) of Rossburg, Mrs. James (Georgina) McMahon (1914-2008) of Yermo, California, and Mrs. Geraldine Baumgardner (1909-2007) and Mrs. Leotina Byers (1912-2006), both of Greenville; and three brothers, Jennings Gunckle (1897-1975) and Earl Gunckel (1915-1986), both of Greenville, and Harold Gunckel (1913-1977) of Englewood.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Miller Funeral Home, Greenville, with Reverend Stephen T. Szilagyi officiating. Burial will follow in Greenville Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, and Friday until the time of services.
NOTE: Edith's second marriage was to Walter Tuttle (15 Aug 1899-23 Jul 1973) - buried Ham Cemetery in Stewart County, Tennessee (where her sister Irene Gunckel Youtsey (memorial #29872202) and Irene's husband Earl Youtsey (memorial #29872201) are buried).
