He served in the Civil War, Company B, 49th Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry.
He was a farmer as was his father and brother John.The 1860 Census of Fown of Fountain, Juneau County declared "
Robert , a farmer, under same household (as Richard the father), declared 480 acres of Real Estate and 200 Personnal Estate."
In 1892 he was declared a Republican.
He died 5 days after writing his last will and testement...which was found in the lock box of his neice after she died in 1991.
