Robert is the first born son of Richard Northcott and Hannah Hanns Braund of England.
He emigrated to the US along with his family in approximately 1850.
Siblings were Thomas Northcott, John H Northcott, Betsy Ann Northcott, Richard Northcott, Mary Jane Northcott, Hannah Marie Northcott, Charlotte Northcott, William C Northcott and James L Northcott.
He never married.
He served in the Civil War, Company B, 49th Regiment, Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry.
He was a farmer as was his father and brother John.The 1860 Census of Fown of Fountain, Juneau County declared "
Robert , a farmer, under same household (as Richard the father), declared 480 acres of Real Estate and 200 Personnal Estate."
In 1892 he was declared a Republican.
He died 5 days after writing his last will and testement...which was found in the lock box of his neice after she died in 1991.
