Hugh L. Woody, Jr., 88, of Crossville, passed away Jan. 21, 2011. A graveside service was held Jan. 22 at Woody Cemetery, with Bro. Gary Howard officiating.
Mr. Woody was born Jan. 15, 1923, in Cumberland County, the son of Hugh L. Woody, Sr. and Alverta Shillings Woody.
He was a contractor in home construction and was of the Baptist faith. He served in the United States Army and was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his daughter, Carolyn Underwood and husband Tommy of Crossville; son, Larry Woody and wife Mary Frances of Nashville; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Sevier Woody and Elmo Woody; and sisters, Elsie Barnwell, Rosa Dixon, Hagar Woody, Jo Brown and Lillie Conley.
