Paul G. Fillmore, 81, died Tuesday, May 20, 2003 in a Ventura hospital following a brief illness.

Dr. Fillmore was born November 13, 1921, in Richfield, Utah. He married Patricia Brockbank on December 20, 1943. He spent his early years in Utah, then attended Brigham Young University and Duke University, receiving his medical degree from Duke. He then worked with the Atomic Energy Commission in Japan before returning to Duke to finish his residency. He served in the United States Army for two years, then settled in Logan, Utah, where he went into practice with his brother, James for three years.

In the summer of 1958, he moved to Ventura to establish his own private practice, retiring in 1986. Dr. Fillmore saw the beauty in nature and his surroundings and enjoyed photographing many areas in the Ventura area.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Patricia Fillmore of Ventura; sons and daughters-in-law, Paul and Joanne Fillmore of Mesa, Arizona, Jim and Diana Fillmore of Murray, Utah, Brian and Pamela Fillmore of Woodbridge, Connecticut; daughter and son-in-law, Ann and Giles Florence of Salt Lake City, Utah; daughter Elizabeth "Betsy" Fillmore of New York City, New York; brother, Winston Fillmore of Salt Lake City, Utah; 22 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Dr. Fillmore was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Parker and James; his sisters, Maurine Bryner, Belle Stewart, and Elithe Cannon.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 27th at 12:00 noon at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 S. Highland Dr. where family and friends may call one hour prior to services. Interment: Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
