JOSEPHINE RADUECHEL

Josephine Raduechel, age 89 of Hartington, NE, died Monday, January 19, 2009 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital, Yankton, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Friday, January 23, 2009 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, NE with Rev. Jeff Loeske officiating. Burial of the cremated remains will be at a later date. Visitations will be 6 to 9 PM, Thursday, January 22, 2009 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Hartington, NE with a vigil service at 7:00 PM. Visitations will resume one hour prior to the service at the church. Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, is in charge of arrangements.

Born Dec. 23, 1919, in Fordyce, NE, to John and Anna (Meyer) Becker, Mrs. Raduechel attended Lammers Ranch School, rural Fordyce, graduating from the eighth grade in May 1934. She later attended and graduated from Capitol Beauty School, Omaha. She owned several cosmetology shops prior to setting up shop in her home where she worked until her retirement in 1992. After retirement, she worked around the Hartington area helping ill and aged residents in their homes, and as a kitchen aide at the Hartington Senior Citizens Center. Mrs. Raduechel enjoyed bowling, movies, listening to music and particularly playing cards. She resided in her home with her granddaughter, grandson-in-law and two great-granddaughters until her death.

Mrs. Raduechel married William Raduechel, Jr. of Bloomfield, NE., Feb. 26, 1946, at St. John the Baptist Church, Fordyce. To this union, they were blessed with the privilege of adopting a daughter, Rochelle Ann Raduechel. They were also the guardians of their granddaughter, Stephanie Ann Raduechel, whom they considered their daughter as well. Mr. Raduechel passed away Sept. 1, 1982.

Survivors include daughter, Rochelle Raduechel, Sioux City, IA; granddaughter, Stephanie Thurin, grandson-in-law, Trent Thurin, and two great-granddaughters, Abigail and Zoe Thurin, all of Hartington; sisters Rose Dresden and Mary Becker, both of Hartington and sister Ann Jalbert, Lake Tahoe, CA.; also numerous nieces and nephews.
