Mrs. Polenske, Well Known Lodian, Dies
Freda C. Polenske of 31 South California Street, wife of George Polenske, Lodi city fire chief, died at her home Sunday afternoon following a long illness. She was a native of this city, aged 52 years. A member of the well known Beckman family, one of the earliest families to settle here, her acquaintance was wife in the district. She was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church of Lodi. Survivors include her widower, George, and the following sons and daughters: Philip of Lodi, Walter in Guam with the Naval Air Corps, Evelyn and Carolyn Polenske of Lodi. She also is survived by a brother, Otto S. Beckman, and two sisters, Mrs. Ella C. long of Stockton, and Miss Hilda Beckman of Lodi. Mrs. Polenske was the sister of the late Mrs. Clara H. Taylor of Lodi and of the late Emil S. Beckman and Arnold Beckman, both of Lodi. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 Wednesday morning in the Chapel of the Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. W. F. Schlueter of St. Peter's officiating. Interment will be private at the Lodi Cemetery. The family has asked that flowers be omitted.
Lodi News Sentinel - June 9, 1947Freda Polenske Services HeldFuneral services for Freda Polenske were held yesterday morning at 10:30 in the Chapel of the Wells Funeral Home with the Rev. W. F. Schlueter of St. Peter's Lutheran Church officiating. Alfred Baerwald sang "Asleep In Jesus" and Jerusalem, Thou city Fair And High" accompanied by Mr. William Meeske at the organ. Pallbearers were Vern Hoffman, Percy Wright, Rudolph Rode, Sherwood Beckman, Ernest Fink and Herbert Langhorst. Interment was in the Lodi Cemetery with the Wells Funeral Home in charge.
