He was born January 27, 1880, in Wetzel County, W. Va., a son of Jonas and Mary Thomas Whipkey. His wife, Frances Kerr Whipkey, whom he married September 15, 1905, died November 25, 1960.
Mr. Whipkey had lived most of his life at Bristoria. He was a retired pumper with the South Penn Oil Company for whom he had worked for 48 years.
He was a member of the Long Run Church of God, and former member of the Knights of Pythias Lodges at Bristoria and Graysville.
Mr. Whipkey was the last of a 12 member family.
Surviving are five sons: Paul Whipkey of Wind Ridge, R. D. 1; Fred Whipkey, of Holbrook; Warren Whipkey, of Wrightstown, N. J.; John Whipkey, of Hightstown, N. J.; and Stoy Whipkey, of Beallsville; two daughters, Lena, wife of Fren Hennen, of New Freeport; and Freda, wife of Ronald Brant, of Greensburg, R. D. 3; 17 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.
