Naomi Eugenia Smith Maulding, 81, Rt. 5 Box 109, died unexpectedly, in her sleep, at her home on Old Byram Road, on Saturday night.
She was a native of East Feliciana Parish, Wilson, Louisiana but had made her home in the Hinds Co. Jackson/Byrum Mississippi area. She was a charter member of the First Baptist Church on South Siwell Rd. in Byrum.
She and her late husband, William Henry Maulding, were married on February 24, 1919 in Sumter Co. in Livingston, Alabama.
Preceding her in death, was a brother, Frank Dewey Smith, (b.1-17-1898 LA and d.8-1-1951 IL) of Cook Co. in Mt. Pulaski, Illinois, a sister, Alma Smith Wilson (b.7-17-1897 LA and d.7-20-1923 MS) and in-law to her husband, Thomas Blakey Wilson (b.5-8-1889 MS and d.6-21-1923 MS) of Lauderdale Co. in Meridian,Mississippi.
She was a sister to Drury H. Smith (b.4-8-1891 LA d.___?) and was in-law to his wife, Beatrice Edwards Smith (b.8-12-1899 and d.10-14-1918 MS) of Meridian, Lauderdale Co. in Mississippi and sister to Nellie L. Smith (b. Dec. 1899 LA or Jan. 1900 LA). Don't know much about her, no info available especially who she married, if at all.
Survivors include one daughter, Billie Rae Maulding, McPhail, Cranford, Roeling of New Orleans LA and one adopted son, James Garthan Wilson Maulding (son of Alma and Thomas Wilson) of Jackson; four grandsons, Robert W. McPhail,Sr. of Florence MS, Jim M. Maulding of Jackson MS, Johnny M. Maulding of Lumberton MS and Steve H. Maulding of Jackson MS ,three great grandsons and one great granddaughter; two nieces and one nephew.
Burial will be at Lake Wood Memorial Park in Jackson, Mississippi with the Rev. Orville Hooker, officiating.
