"Memorial services for Elizabeth 'Betty' Spencer, 67, of Bandon, will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, at the Lighthouse Church of Christ in Bandon. Chris Harrison of the Lighthouse Church of Christ will officiate. Private inturnment will be held at the Bandon IOOF Cemetery.
Mrs. Spencer was born May 10, 1930 in Laramie, Wyo., to William and Louise Elizabeth (Spurrier) Lind. She died Feb. 11, 1998 of a lengthy illness.
She was raised and schooled in Laramie. She resided for a time on the east coast before moving to California. She married Robert Spencer in Carlsbad, Calif. on Jan. 4, 1964. She raised her family in California and was a devoted mother, wife and grandmother.
Mrs. Spencer is survived by her husband Robert 'Bob' Spencer of Bandon; children, John DeGroot of Lynwood, Wash., Robert Spencer of Billings, Mont. and Diane Spencer of Bandon; twin sister, Mary Lou Sweeney of Bandon, brother Douglas Lind of Bandon and grandchildren Robert, Kimberly, Douglas and Elizabeth DeGroot.
She was preceded by her parents; brothers William S. Lind and Robert Lee Lind and a granddaughter Carrie Louise Spencer.
The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Carrie Spencer Memorial Fund, The Lighthouse Church of Christ, 595 SW 11th, Bandon, Ore., 97411. Proceeds go to support local children's activities in Bandon.
Arrangements are under the direction of Amling/Schroeder Funeral Service, Bandon Chapel."
