W. Clyde Althouse, 84, of 12 Lancaster Ave., Denver, died of natural causes Monday at home. He had been under the care of Hospice of Lancaster County.

He was a carpenter for Edgar Zerbe Contractor of Shillington and was last employed as a custodian at Cocalico High School, Denver.

Althouse was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.

He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Denver. He also was a member of Denver Borough Council for four years; Cloister Post 429, American Legion, Ephrata; Cocalico Valley Post 3376, V.F.W., Ephrata; and Golden Years Circle, Denver.

He enjoyed gardening and camping.

Born in Denver, he was a son of the late Herman M. and Emma Enck Althouse.

He was married for 54 years on April 10 to Anna Ruoss Althouse.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a son, Curtis L., married to Nancy L. Althouse of Denver; a sister, Bernetha Messner of Ephrata; and a brother, Kenneth Althouse of Denver.
