"Gilbert S. "Gib" Althouse, 88, of 426 Main St., Denver, died of natural causes Sunday evening at Denver Nursing Home, where he had lived for two weeks.

Althouse retired in 1981 from Weaver Industries, Denver, where he was employed for 23 years. He also worked for the former Royer's Bakery, Denver, for 25 years.

A member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Denver, he was a former elder and formerly belonged to the church consistory. He also had been a member of the church building committee and the Men's Brotherhood.

Althouse was a former treasurer of the Golden Years Circle, Denver, and a member of the Denver Fire Company.

He enjoyed woodworking and attended craft shows.

Born in Denver, he was the son of the late Herman M. and Emma Enck Althouse.

He was married 67 years on Dec. 31 to Susan G. Getz Althouse.

Surviving in addition to his wife are a daughter, Fay D., married to Warren L. Lorah of Denver; two grandsons; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernetha Messner of Ephrata; and two brothers, Clyde and Kenneth, both of Denver."
