Henry Snow was born near Brookville, Indiana, a son of Lemuel Snow, Jr and Lorinda Langdon Snow, and grandson of Lemuel Snow, Sr and Lydia Hodges Snow of Snow Hill, Franklin County, Indiana. Lemuel and Lydia Hodges Snow had 15 children, births ranging from 1786 to 1812, all in Barnstable, Massachusetts.

Henry graduated at Miami University in 1838 with a high reputation as a classical scholar. The same year he was appointed to the Department of Languages in Woodward College, and served three years. In 1842 he was admitted to the Bar in Cincinnati. Henry Snow's qualifications as a teacher were of a high order and he was popular among his students. His later success in the legal profession met the high expectations of his friends for he had few superiors in business law.

Henry was married to Catharine LYND Snow and was the father of Leonora, Samuel Lynd, Katharine Louise, Laura, Virginia Snow Gaylord, Dr. Henry Snow, Sr and Dr. William Staughton Snow.

Henry was also a Civil War veteran. In the Civil War Pension Index for New York, 1861 - 1934, Mrs. Catharine L. Snow filed for a widow's pension on June 9, 1883.

During his long career, Henry preserved an unblemished character and was greatly respected for his talents, integrity, and devotion to his calling.

In our Black family tree, Henry is my husband's maternal Great(2)Grand-Uncle via marriage.
