Merton "Red" Wells, 65, of 331 S. Gilbert, Footville, died Sunday at the Veterans Hospital, Madison, after a two-year illness. Born June 22, 1921, in Footville, he married Jean Miller on February 25, 1947, in Ames, Iowa. He owned and operated Red's Body Shop for 38 years in Footville, retiring in 1985. He was a World War II Army veteran serving in England from 1941-1945. He was a member of the Footville American Legion and the Footville Church of Christ. Burial in Milton Lawns Memorial Park, Janesville. The Janesville Daily Gazette October 20, 1986.
