Florence Ceceila Margaret Jobes,
was born on December 29, 1918, in Alvord, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Katie (Heerde) Holtz. She lived her youth in Alvord, where she attended school and graduated from high school.
She was united in marriage to Marvin Jobes of Melvin, Iowa, on April 18, 1939, in Inwood, Iowa. They lived in Melvin, Iowa, until they moved to a farm near Bigelow, Minnesota, where they farmed. In 1951, they moved to Sharbondy Corner near Sibley, Iowa, where they operated the gas station and café until 1954. They moved to Ocheyedan, Iowa, where Florence was a cook at the Ocheyedan Community School for 25 years. Marvin passed away on September 11, 1991.
Florence was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Ocheyedan, where she was a member of Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Never Grow Old Club.
Florence enjoyed playing Pinochle and being active with the senior citizens. When she was younger she enjoyed babysitting for mothers in town. She also enjoyed watching sports of high school students and professionals.
She passed away on Monday, September 19, 2005, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa, at the age of 86 years, 8 months and 20 days.
Those left to cherish her memories are two daughters and sons-in-law: Karla and Jack Carmichael of Hillsboro, OR, Beth and Neal Consoer of Ocheyedan, IA; two sons and daughter-in-law: Daniel Jobes of Ocheyedan, IA, Keith and Mary Jobes of Cheyenne, WY; ten grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law: Grace Pohlman of Milford, IA; one former daughter-in-law: LeAnn (Lage) Jobes of Bellevue, NE; and a very dear friend: Tillie Van Anken of Little Rock, IA.
She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin; her parents; five brothers: Henry Holtz, Rudolph Holtz, Julius Holtz, Louis Holtz, Arthur Holtz; five sisters: Luella Serck, Linda Bruder, Alma Bliesmer, Martha Jensen, Clara Bauer
