Martha M. Kubik, 91, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Traer, passed away Saturday, December 18, 2010, at the David and Donna Oldorf Hospital House in Hiawatha. She was born in Traer on November 7, 1919, the daughter of Vince and Julia Axler. In 1941, she was married to Richard Kubik. The couple made their home in Traer and later in Cedar Rapids. Martha directed her energies to sewing, crafts, quilting, baking and cooking. She was involved with the Tabitha Society and was an active member at the Presbyterian Church where she was in the quilting circle. She also enjoyed traveling and cruising with her family.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Darrell; two grandchildren, Tracy and Scott Kubik; a brother; and two sisters. She is survived by two sons, Roger (Betty) Kubik of Avoca, and Kevin (Renee) Kubik of Cedar Rapids; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and two sisters.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 22, at Ripley United Church of Christ in Traer. Visitation will be for an hour before the service at the church. Overton Funeral Home, Traer, is assisting the family.
