Mr. Satchwell was born in Norfolk. In 1939 Mr. Satchwell won the State High School Title for Maury High School in Norfolk. He was a P.G.A. (Professional Golfer's Association) member from 1949 to 1955. He regained his amateur status in 1976 and went on to win the Virginia Beach, Norfolk and Portsmouth City Amateur Championships. He was the owner and operator of Satchwell Enterprises from 1974 to 1989. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Norfolk. He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Powell Satchwell of Virginia Beach; one son, Michael Fenner Satchwell of Virginia Beach; two daughters, Gini S. Hill of Chesapeake and Cynthia S. Kersey of Norfolk; one sister, Helen S. Banforth of Virginia Beach; three grandchildren, Rachel Hill and Jason Hill, both of Chesapeake, and Kyle A. Kersey of Norfolk; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be conducted Thursday, Feb. 10, 1994, at 11 a.m. in Smith & Williams Funeral Home, Kempsville Chapel, by the Rev. Richard E. Baker. Burial will be in Rosewood Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this evening. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist Church of Norfolk Building Fund or Kempsville Volunteer Rescue Squad.
