Friends in this country were deeply grieved when they learned of the death of Mr. J. A. Beard which occurred at his home in Blessing Sunday, February 15, at 12:15 p.m. At the time of his death, Mr. Beard was fifty-one years of age. He had been in ill health for some time, finally resulting in his death.
Mr. Beard was a prominent farmer and stock man of Blessing, but before going there was a resident of this county. He is well and favorably known throughout the entire county, numbering his friends by his acquaintances.
Deceased is survived by his wife and several children of Blessing; his mother, Mrs. Josephine Beard of Needville; two brothers, S. B. Beard and S. A. Beard, Needville; four sisters, Mesdames John Berry, H. Brumbelow, and M. V. Brumbelow, Needville, and Mrs. Geo. Duty, Damon.
Funeral services were held at the home of his mother Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock, Rev. H. T. Morgan, pastor of the First Methodist Church of Richmond, officiating. However, Mr. Beard was a devoted member of the Baptist Church of Blessing and only recently remarked to one of his brothers of the same faith that he was happy in his work for his Lord and Master. Masons from the different communities about also held a short service at the grave. Interment was made in the Brown Cemetery near the Beard home.

This burial is on private property or is otherwise inaccessible. You can see the cemetery from the county road, however it is behind several fences and "no trespassing" signs.
