Garth S. Redmond, 65, of 6713 Conway Road, Harrisburg, entered into rest on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Community General Osteopathic Hospital.
He was born in Altoona on January 4, 1946 and was the son of the late Rev. Clarke J. and Permelia Garthoff Redmond.
He was a graduate of the Altoona High School and the Juniata College and a member of the Juanita Alumni Association. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a recipient of the Bronze Star. Garth was a retired employee of the former New Cumberland Army Depot. He was a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Lower Swatara Township, VFW Post # 8638, Highspire and the Lower Paxton Senior Citizens.
He enjoyed spending time with his daughter and family keeping in touch with family and friends. He also enjoyed playing the trumpet and jazz music.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Harry D. Redmond.
He is survived by his daughter, Natalie J. Redmond and her companion , Dennis Fewell of Hershey; Granddaughter, Lynn A. Fewell of Hershey; brother, James W. husband of Paula Redmond of New Paris; sister, Janet M. wife of Scott Krepps of Greenville; several nieces and nephews.
A memorial tribute will be at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at the Matinchek & Daughter Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Middletown, with the Rev. John Overman officiating.
Inurnment will be in the Middletown Cemetery.
