CORINNA - Christena F. Butler, 99, went home to be with the Lord, June 22, 2002, at Pittsfield. She was born Feb. 25, 1903, in Mapleton, the daughter of Roy and Myrtie Fern (Tilley) Welch. She attended Corinna Union Academy and worked as a practical nurse for many years. She had also been an employee of Snowflake Freezing Plant. She was a member of the Pleasant St. Christian Church and the Happy Hour Club. She will be remembered by many for taking numerous State children into her home. Christena was predeceased by her first husband, Erwin M. Dearborn in 1939 and her second husband, Harry G. Butler, who she married in 1944.
Surviving are a son, Everett Dearborn and wife, Lorraine of Corinna; four daughters, Roberta Ricker of Pittsfield, Alice Kneeland of Newport, Marguerite Ricker of Delta, Col., and Althea Emery and her husband, Colby of Hermon; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 24, 2002, at the Thompson Funeral Home, 30 St. Albans Rd., Corinna. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Pleasant St. Christian Church with the Rev. Edward Jaworski officiating. Burial will be in Morse's Corner Cemetery, Corinna.
