MRS. OSCAR NORDNESS
Mrs. Oscar Nordness passed away Friday evening, July 29th after a brief illness at the age of 67 years, 10 months and 26 days.
She was born Sept. 1, 1887 to Erick and Anna Esse, early De Forest settlers. She was baptized by the late Rev. C. K. Preus and confirmed by the late L. S. J. Reque. On Jan. 14, 1909 she was united in marriage to Oscar Nordness who survives.
This union was blessed with four children; Emery, Viroqua; Gerhard, Washington, D.C.,; Mrs. Chrystene Weedman, De Forest, and Mrs. Clifford Ewings, Madison. Six sisters and four brothers survive here: Mrs. Ingeborg Arndt, Milwaukee, Mrs. Russell Loberg, madison, Mrs. Dan Bilsie, DeForest, Mrs. Erwin Kroncke, Poynette, Mrs. Gustave Olson, Minneapolis, Minn., and Mrs. Garland Marple, Alexandria, Va.; Ove and John of De Forest, George, Manitowoc, and Paul, Madison; Also 3 grandchildren Audrey Nordness, John Eric Weedman and Catherine Ewings.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 Tuesday, Aug. 2nd from the Norway Grove Lutheran Church, the Rev. Stephen Ingvoldstad officiating. Rev. Axel Anderson, former pastor of the Norway Grove Lutheran Church, spoke comforting words to the bereaved family. Rev. Anderson also sang a favorite Norwegian hymn. "Den Store Hvide flak vi se." Mrs. Elmer McLaughlin, accompanied by Mrs. Carl Knudtson sang a solo, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus."
The pallbearers were six nephews: Stanley and Roy McEvilly, Albert and Paul Arndt, Dale and Robert Esse.
