Bill Compton, age 91, of Prestonsburg, KY., passed away May 31, 2011,at his residence.

He was born September 20, 1919, in Prestonsburg, KY., the son of late Layne and Sally Blackburn Compton.

He was the husband the late Lona Handshoe Compton.

He was a retired coal miner, and a member of the Rock Fork United Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, and wife, he was preceded in death two sons, Frank Compton and Floyd Compton, three brothers, Albert Compton, Ray Compton and Henry Compton three sisters, Mary Peters, Sadie Hall and Becky Tackett.

Survivoring are six sons, Clay Compton, Wayne Compton, Amon Compton, Verlie Compton, Elbert Compton and Bill Jack Compton all of Prestonsburg, two daughters, Sally Perry of Prestonsburg and Pearlie Bailey of David, one brother, Layne Compton of Prestonsburg, one sister, Maudie Peters of Munoth, OH., and a host of grandchildren, great- grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011, at the Nelson Frazier Funeral Home, Martin, KY., with Bethel Bolen officiating. Burialwill be in Compton Cemetery, Conley Fk., Prestonsburg.

Visitation will be after 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2011, at the funeral home.
