"Woman Is Suicide - Mrs. Everett Cadwell Slashes Throat With Razor" (Special to The Journal) - Sherman, March 13 - While her husband, Everett Cadwell, was in Sturgis to bring her mother here for a visit, Mrs. Cadwell, 48, took her life in her farm home on the south side of Fish Lake, just off Banker Street, Monday afternoon about one o'clock, by cutting her throat with a razor. For some time Mrs. Cadwell had been in ill health and only a few days ago threatened to drown herself, but was thwarted by Mr. Cadwell, who restrained her before she was able to leave the house. On that occasion she left a note declaring her intention, officers said. Coroner Thomas W. Geisler was summoned to the Cadwell home and decided there would be no inquest as the death of Mrs. Cadwell was due to self-inflicted wounds. The body was taken to the Bateman Funeral Home in Centerville. Mrs. Cadwell was born in Chicago Oct. 23, 1896, the daughter of Charles and Mimma Haase Bunkee, and lived in Illinois until she came to Sherman Township about five years ago. She is survived by her husband and one son, Everett Cadwell, Jr., 19, who is at Great Lakes Training Station, Ill., and her mother. The funeral will held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Bateman Funeral Home, the Rev. C. W. Harvey officiating, and interment will be made in the Prairie River Cemetery.
