Everett Blaine Cadwell, Jr., 69, of Fieldcrest Drive, North Syracuse, died Saturday at home after a long illness. Born in Elmhurst, Ill., he had resided in the North Syracuse area for the last 44 years. From 1950 until his retirement in 1988, he worked in Syracuse as an engineer with General Electric Co., most recently in the Undersea Systems Department. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as an electronics technician on the destroyer USS Gridley. Mr. Cadwell graduated from Michigan State University in 1950 with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering.
Mr. Cadwell was a member and former clerk, treasurer and board president of Plymouth Congregational Church, Syracuse. He was a member of Tau Beta Pi, Phi Kappa Phi and the Retired Professional Engineers of New York, and a senior member of the International Electrical Engineers. He was co-chair of transportation for the North Area Meals on Wheels. Surviving are his wife, the former Polly White; two daughters, Susan Kennedy of Cicero and Peggy Tooley of North Syracuse; two sons, Timothy of North Syracuse and Thomas of Liverpool; a stepbrother, Earl Bowersox of Michigan; and 11 grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in Plymouth Congregational Church, the Rev. Harvey Pinyoun officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Park, Warners. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Sears-Middleton Funeral Home, 209 N. Main St., North Syracuse. Contributions may be made to Plymouth Congregational Church.
