Edna V. (Lape) Roddy, 82, of Stoystown RD formerly of Somerset died Aug. 4, 2000 at home of daughter Betty Ann. Born Nov. 19, 1917 in Jenner Township, daughter of A.O. "Gus" and Virginia (McAvoy) Lape. Preceded in death by parents, husband of 47 years John D. on May 20, 2000, sister Alma Lundquest, and brother John William Lape. Survived by daughters Betty Ann, wife of Edward R. Maurer, Stoystown RD, and Doris Jean, wife of Raymond Gates, Somerset. Grandchildren: John Maurer married to Pamela Krause, Jennerstown; Stacy (Maurer) married to Dr., Randall Bittner, Virginia Beach, Va.; William B. Maurer, Middletown; Robert McCulley, Newport News, Va., and Robert Gates of Maryland. Great-grandchildren: David, Carling and Brock Bittner, Ryan Maurer, Kyle and Jessica Drebot, and Katie and John Gates. Sisters, Maxine wife of Norbert Baker, Lois wife of J. Robert Brougher, and Doris wife of David Troyer, all of Somerset, and brothers, Charles married to Ruth Ogline, Sipesville, Ralph married to Betty Goss, Cape Coral, Fla., and Foster married to Kathryn Stahl, Gray. Also numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives. Member of Zion/Hoffman Evangelical Lutheran Church. Had been a teacher's aid for the former Jenner-Boswell School District from 1967 to 1969. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m. Monday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell, Rev. Kathleen A. Kuehl officiating.
