Mrs. Mary Virginia (McAvoy) Lape, 77, of Stoystown RD 1, died Oct. 16, 1971, in the Somerset Community Hospital. Born on June 10, 1894, Bayard, W.Va., a daughter of John W. and Mary Catherine (Strawderman) McAvoy. Preceded in death by her parents and husband, A.O. (Gus) Lape, May 9, 1967. Also, three sisters and three brothers. Survived by these children: Alma, wife of Oscar Lundquist of Boswell; Edna, wife of John Roddy, and Foster P., married to the former Kathryn Stahl, both of Stoystown RD 1; Maxine, wife of Norbert Baker, and Lois M., wife of J. Robert Brougher, both of Somerset; Charles A., married to the former Ruth Ogline of Springfield, Va.; Ralph E., married to the former Elizabeth Goss of Somerset RD 1; Doris L., wife of David Troyer of Hershey; and J. William at home. Also, 19 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A brother of Gilbert C. of Hurricane, W.Va. Member of Zion-Hoffman Lutheran Church in Jenner Township. Friends received from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Monday (today) and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Joseph H. Hoffman and Son Funeral Home, Boswell, where services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. William H. Snyder and the Rev. Paul P. Weber officiating. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
