William Eblen, 94, Dies In Council Bluffs

William Eblen, 94, former Cumberland resident, died at the Jackson convalescent home in Council Bluffs Wednesday morning following a short illness. He had been an invalid several years.

Mr. Eblen was born in Ohio April 24, 1865, the son of Joseph and Elizabeth Minerva Eblen and lived for many years in Cumberland, where he was a house mover. He had resided in Council Bluffs since 1942 and was affiliated with the Church of the Brethren. Mrs. Eblen died several years ago.

Surviving are eight daughters, Mrs. Guy Dugan of Boone, Mrs. Virgil Dudley of Omaha, Mrs. Earl Norris of Griswold, Mrs. Cleo Worthington of Cumberland, Mrs. Maude Cullen of Adair, Mrs. Clifford Moore of Carroll, and Mrs. Tom Healey and Mrs. Edward Bishop of Council Bluffs; three sons, Dewey Eblen of Huntington Park, California, Roy Eblen of Council Bluffs and Perry Eblen of Oakland; a sister, Mrs. Etta Cannon of Atlantic; 55 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, a brother, and ten sisters.

Funeral services will be held in Council Bluffs Friday afternoon at 1 o'clock, with the Meyer funeral home in charge. Interment will be in the Victoria township cemetery.
