Joshua Eblen Dies, Rites Monday
CUMBERLAND - Joshua Eblen, 62, died at 9:20 p.m. Friday at his home in Cumberland. He had been in failing health the past two years.
Mr. Eblen, who was born October 7, 1895, served in World War I and later was an employee of Turner Bros. Grain and Coal in Cumberland for 25 years. The last ten years he had been employed with the Iowa Electric Light and Power Company. Mr. Eblen served as mayor here several years and was chief of the fire department for ten years. He was married to Edna Krauth on December 6, 1922.
Surviving beside his wife are two children, Mrs. Roy DeVore of Cumberland and Darrell Eblen of Atlantic; four grandchildren; his father, William Eblen of Council Bluffs; eight sisters, Mrs. Minerva Moore of Carroll, Mrs. Maude Cullen of Adair, Mrs. Esther Worthington of Cumberland, Mrs. Bernice Bishop, Mrs. Evelyn Healey of Council Bluffs, Mrs. Nancy Norris of Griswold, Mrs. Mable Dudley of Banning, California, and Mrs. Blanche Dugan of Boone, and three brothers, Roy Eblen of Council Bluffs, Perry Eblen of Oakland, and Dewey Eblen of Huntington Park, California. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mrs. Elnora Eblen.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the Cumberland Christian Church.
