Mr. Coleman was a graduate of Terre Haute College and was a teacher in his early life. He was a postmaster at Perrysville for three years and later a rural mail carrier for 30 years. He was a member of the Perrysville School Board when the North Vermilion Community School Corporation was formed.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Mrs. Luther (Mildred) Mycroft of Covington and Mrs. Gordon (Marjorie) Allen of Reynolds; two stepson, Robert Carwile of Potomac, Illinois, and Jim Carwile of Covington; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Larry (Fran) Bumps of Covington; two sisters, Mrs. Bessie Anderson of Perrysville Route 1 and Mrs. Grace Wilson of Covington Route 1; five brothers, Claude of Covington, Mont of Perrysville, Frank and Don, both of Covington Route 1, and Robert of rural Crawfordsville; eight grandchildren, 12 step-grandchildren, three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother and a daughter.
Services will be at 2 P.M. Thursday at the Bodine and Shelby Funeral Home, with the Reve. Ernest Moore officiating. Burial will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery." – Commercial News, Danville, Illinois
