FORMER POSTMASTER RAYMOND P. NOLAN DIES AT 84 YEARS
Raymond P. Nolan, 84, who served as Postmaster in Janesville 19 years, passed away at the Immanuel Hospital in Mankato, Thursday afternoon, June 19 following a several months illness. His death was attributed to complications of advanced age.
Raymond P. Nolan was born to the parents, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Nolan at Faribault on August 19, 1884. He attended the Faribault school and Creighton High School in St. Paul. He followed the occupation of salesman prior to serving as postmaster in Janesville for 19 years. He was a member of the St. Ann's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
On October 25, 1915, he married Margaret Keeley of Janesville in this city.
He is survived by his wife, three sons, Attorney Robert Nolan of Duluth, Richard of Mankato, Thomas of Owatonna; two daughters, Mrs. John Hinton (Mary), wife of Dr. John Hinton, of Waldorf, Mrs. Robert Donahue (Ann) of Janesville; 21 grandchildren; two brothers, Hugh of Faribault, Frank of Minot, North Dakota, three sisters, Mrs. James Cashman, Mrs. Fred Brick and Mrs. Frank O'Brien, all of Owatonna.
He was preceded in death by a son Lt. John M. Nolan who was killed in World War II.
Funeral services were held Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Janesville. Rev. Joseph Cashman and Rev. W. D. Sullivan officiated and interment was in the St. Ann's cemetery.
Pallbearers were Joe Finley, Vince Cashman, Jack Cashman, Bud Randall, Wm. Brick and Terry O'Brien, nephews of the deceased.
The Arnoldt Funeral Home in Janesville was in charge of arrangements.
