Chas. W. Nolan Is Called By Death
Deceased Succumbs After A Period Of Lingering Illness
Charles W. Nolan died at his home in Janesville on Sunday, August 27 at 7:45 A. M. He had been in poor health for the past seven or eight years but in spite of that fact his death came as a great shock to his immediate relatives and to the host of friends that he had in Janesville and the surrounding community.
The deceased was born in Rice County on December 16th, 1890 and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Nolan of Faribault. During the World War he served with the 361 Infantry Headquarters Company for a period of two years. And as a result of that service he suffered injuries from which he never recovered. He was just another victim of that great conflict that was supposed to "make the world safe for democracy." In other words, he was just another hero who silently carried his cross while the world wondered what is was all about. In silent tribute we bow our head to one who gave his all for the country that he loved.
Charles W. Nolan was married to Miss Mary Keeley of this community on August 12th, 1924 and he is survived by his widow and an aged mother and following brothers and sisters as listed below: John of Williston, N. D.; Hugh, of Kenyon; James of Alhambra, Cal.; Ray, Janesville, Frank, Minot, N. D.; George, Minot, N. D.; Leonard, Chippewa, Wis.; Mrs. Jas. Cashman, Owatonna; Mrs. Fred Brick, Owatonna; Mrs. Frank O'Brien, Owatonna.
The funeral services were conducted from St. Ann's Church on Thursday, August 31 at nine o'clock in the morning with Rev. Fr. Parkinson conducting the services. The pallbearers were Frank Finley, Lou Converse, Peter Janson, Frank Cahill, Alfred Hirscher and Sam Donnelly.
Others from out of town who attended were: Mr. and Mrs. Frank Keeley, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. George Donovan, St. Paul; Mrs. H. F. Gonagle, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. P. H. Keeley, Waseca; Mr. and mrs.
