ELLIS CULBERTSON
Ellis Elmer Culbertson, son of Archie and Ellen Culbertson, was born in Lucas county, near Derby, Iowa, May 26, 1877, and departed this life at a nursing home in Osceola, Oct. 26, 1958, at the age of 81 years and five months.
Mr. Culbertson lived most of his life in Iowa. He spent six years in Nebraska. He has been in failing health for the last several years.
He accepted Christ as his Savior and united with the Methodist church at Cambria in 1902.
On Feb. 25, 1903, he was united in marriage to Flora V. Bellon at Corydon. To this union nine children were born: six sons and three daughters. One daughter, Audrey, and a son died in infancy. Two sons, Everett and Raymond, lost their lives in service in Germany.
Besides his widow their five children survive: Ardys of Chariton; A. J. of Barnum, Minn.; Grace Russell of Osceola; Hubert of Creston; and Louise McCloney of Osceola. Besides these there are three daughters-in-law and two sons-in-law; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Harley of Grand Island, Nebr.; one sister, Ida Schumann of Wood River, Nebr.; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, mother, five brothers, one sister, one daughter and three sons.
Funeral services were held at 2:30 Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 29, at the Webster Funeral Home in Osceola. The Rev. Azel L. Smith officiated and music was by Amy Ruth Harlan and Emil Rinderspacher. Burial was in the Humeston cemetery.
