ROSALIE FAYE COX
Rosalie Faye Cox, age 79, former resident of 120 S. Lincoln, Fort Scott, died Friday, June 2, 2006 at Mercy Health Center. She was born April 30, 1927 in Fort Scott, the daughter of Ivan Smith and Alice Faye Embry Smith.
She married Albert Cox on December 7, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1982. Rosalie was retired following 20 years of employment as a dispatcher for the Police Department. She attended First Baptist Church and also was a member of AARP.
Survivors include two sons, William David Cox and wife Kelly, Fort Scott and Robert Floyd Cox, Kansas City; six daughters, Sharon Baucom and husband Jerry, Linda Metcalf and husband Alvin, and Cindy Larsen and husband Dan, all of Fort Scott, Jean Steed and husband Harold, Edwardsville, Vicki Parsons, Pittsburg and Teresa Ahmadi and husband Ray, Houston, Texas. Also surviving are two brothers, Bill Smith, Twain Harte, California and Gary Smith, Austin, Texas; two sisters, Joyce Johnson, Overland Park and Janice Pent, Kansas City; 23 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Albert Lee "Sonny" Cox; three brothers, Donald Smith, Neil Smith and Harold Smith; one granddaughter, Lori Ann Gillispie; and two great-grandsons, Kyle Lapping and Ian Brooks.
The Rev. Duane McCracken and William James Schafer will conduct funeral services at 2 p.m. Monday, June 12, at the First Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m. Sunday in the Cheney Witt Chapel. Memorials are suggested to either the First Baptist Church or Relay for Life and may be sent to Cheney Witt Chapel, P.O. Box 347, Fort Scott, KS 66701.
