Death by Fire For An Elderly Couple
One of the most shocking tragedies which has occurred in Paris in many years was the death by fire of Mr. & Mrs. W.J. Malone, aged 84 and 74 respectively when their home at 345 Sperry Avenue was destroyed by fire at about 5 o'clock Tuesday morning. Mrs. Malone's brother, J>T> Cain escaped in his night clothing.
When the fire was extinguished the bodies were removed by firemen and Justice Bill Collins held an inquest.
Funeral services for Mr. & Mrs. Malone were held at 3 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. F.A. Tippen, Pastor of Calvary Methodist Church, with interment being made at Highland Cemetery, Deport.
For many years Mr. & Mrs. Malone made their home on the Jefferson road about 8 miles south east of Paris.
Surviving are five children, J.N. Malone, Abilene; H.T. Malone, C.H. Malone and Mrs. C.H. Whitney, Paris, and Mrs. W.G. Short, Texarkana, and 20 grandchildren. Mr. Malone was a brother of Mrs. Jim Vaughn of Hugo, Okla. Mrs. Malone's brothers and sisters are J.T. Cain, Paris; George Cleburn, Henry and Charles Cain, Mrs. Bill Dendy and Mrs. Ebie McCant, living in Alabama; Mrs. Mary Nix in Illinois and Dora Price in California
