Died At Her Home in Rutledge Saturday, November 30
Mrs. Sarah Emily Longfellow died at her home in Rutledge last Saturday night, Nov. 30, at 11 o'clock. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Orville Prather at the Christian church in Rutledge Monday afternoon and interment was in the Rutledge cemetery.
Pall bearers were J. F. Petty, R. D. Westcott, Curt Sallee, Carl Oliver, Charles Guthrie and Ralph Ripperdon.
Mrs. Longfellow was the youngest child of Benj. F. and Sarah Ann Morrison, was born near Millport in Knox County, January 2, 1863, being 83 years of age.
She was married to Allen Longfellow of the same community Feb. 17, 1884, and to this union five children were born—A. H. Longfellow of Memphis, A. N. Longfellow and Mrs. E. R. Hendricks of Rutledge.
In early life Mrs. Longfellow united with the Christian church at Millport, but later became a member of the Rutledge church.
Mr. and Mrs. Longfellow spent most of their married life on a farm near Rutledge where they reared their family. Following the death of her companion, she moved to Rutledge.
Surviving are the three children, three grandsons, Barton and Ross Hendricks, Dallas Miller; five granddaughters, Mrs. Chas. McClement, Mrs. M. E. Moore, Betty Jo and Beatrice Longfellow and Mrs. Elva Pruett; one great-granddaughter, Carol Ann McClement.
(It is not said in the obit that the two unnamed children must have preceded her in death, I know Mary did as she is buried at Millport and I have her linked to her parents.)
