Chester Ray "Blackie" Blackburn, 71, of Okolona was born Sunday, June 15, 1930 in Canada, KY, to the late Paris and Thelma Blackburn.
Mr. Blackburn was a retired employee of the Ford Motor Company after serving 30 years of faithful service, a Baptist by faith and a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Chester peacefully passed away Saturday, January 26, 2002, in the late morning hours at Norton Suburban Hospital with his loving family by his side. Beloved husband of Betty Blackburn; loving father of Debbie McCill, Craig Blackburn, Patti Ferguson and Doug Blackburn; brother of Billy, Roger, Richard, Gay, Flo, Jane and Clair; grandfather of seven and great-grandfather of 11.
Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Schoppenhorst, Underwood & Brooks, Preston Hwy. at Brooks Rd., with Rev. Dewey Hensley officiating. Visitation from 1-9 p.m. Monday. Burial: Brookland Cemetery.
