Lela Mae Howell Skaggs, age 87, of Magnolia, passed away, Friday, January 25, 2013, at the Regis Woods and Rehab Center in Louisville. She was a homemaker and a member of the Pleasant Ridge Separate Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bernie E. Skaggs; her parents, Miles and Mary Loyall Howell; two grandchildren, DeAnna Skaggs and Belinda Skaggs; three sisters, Verdie French, Effie Underwood, and Edna Betebenner and a brother, Alfred Howell
She is survived by two daughters, Sybil (Jr.) Skaggs of Mt. Sherman and Kathy (Larry) Creason of Elizabethtown; two sons, Alvin (Lotus) Skaggs of Magnolia, and Paul (Vicki) Skaggs of Buffalo; a sister, Pauline Keith of Hodgenville; ten grandchildren, Clinton Skaggs, Jamey Skaggs, Mike Skaggs, Marty Skaggs, Jeffrey Skaggs, Jeremy Skaggs, Patrick Skaggs, Paula Skaggs, Laura Creason Roberts and Mariah Creason; twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 PM, Tuesday, January 29, 2013, at the Bennett-Bertram Funeral Home with Rev. Gerald Gardner and Rev. Wayne Burton officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Ridge Church Cemetery.
