Peter was born in Snyder County, Pennsylvania, the 7th son of Peter Hackenberg and Catherine Kuhns. He married Lydia Kline Oct 20, 1863 in Three Rivers, St. Joseph Co., Michigan, and they had 4 children: Calvin F., Addie Cora, Mary C., and Arthur Elmer. He was a long-time farmer in Flowerfied Twp., St. Joseph Co., Michigan, and is listed there on the 1870, 1880, and 1890 US Census records. He died of consumption of the lungs. He is buried at Moorepark Cemetery, Park Twp., St. Joseph Co., Michigan with his wife, Lydia.
