Jacob Good was born in Frederick County, Virginia in 1824 to George and Judith Garrett Good. He was about 9 years old when the family moved to Greene County, Indiana by way of Clark County, Ohio. Jacob worked as a farmer as was his father. He married at age 38 to Mary Jane Ramsey whose family had moved to Indiana from Ohio. Together they raised four children, William Henry "Will", Margaret Ann "Maggie", Clara Etta, and Charles Franklin "Frank", living and farming on the north side of CR 500 S just east of IN 59 in Stafford Township.
