My Great Grandfather Franklin Moses McLelland was born in Mississippi to Dr James Burr McLelland and Eliza Gibson Head both of whom were born in South Carolina and their Mother's families were originally from Stafford / Prince William County in Virginia. F. M. McLelland was named after his Uncle, Franklin I. Moses who married Jane McLelland, J.B. McLelland's sister & this Uncle served as a Lawyer and the Sumpreme Court Justice of South Carolina.

F.M. McLelland didn't marry until after the Civil War, which was probably a good thing because it seems he saw plenty of action, was wounded and in hospitals quite often. He seemed to have served for the duration of the war. Finally he got married to Nancy Catherine Phillips and settled down to have three known children. After having children they moved frequently, living in Bell County, Texas and then Lubbock, Texas areas.
